2007/11/1-Esio Trot by Roald Dahl

  • what happened??   There was Mr. Hoppy who loved to care about the plants in the balcony and also loved Mrs. Silver who lived under his house. Even though he liked her, he could not get closer with her because he was such a shy man. Mr. Hoppy was jealous that Mrs. Silver had a tortoise which was very small, and she cared and loved that tortoise too much. But, Mrs Silver wanted her tortoise to get bigger and grow faster. Therefore, one day, Mr. Hoppy decided to help her out to marry her. He told her to say a magic poems which is all in opposite, therefore, she believed in it and told that poems 3 times per day. Mr. Hoppy bought all of the tortoises he could buy in his village and he did put the tortoise every day careful with the weigh so that she would not recognize it. She really liked it and Mr. Hoppy proposed her to marry. Therefore, they married and lived happy together.
  • what will happen next??->  I think one day, Mrs. Silver will realize that her tortoise seems different. Therefore, she tries to find the truth.
  • how did you feel about the parts you have just read??->  I think Mr. Hoppy has clever to trick people and he would be happy because he married Mrs. Silver which was his hope.
  • if there is anything to change, how would you change it???-> I would like to put more nervous situation in the story because this story is kind of easy going.
  • might want to ask the writer or the characters in the story???->I want to ask Mr. Hoppy when he gave her the first changed tortoise. Was he very nervous? Did not he feel guilty?
