2007/9/27-Esperanza Rising

  • what happened  ->    When Esperanza and Isabel got to their home, it was very dark. They washed their faces and was ready to sleep. When they were lying on the floor, Isabel asked Esperanza about the life in Mexico. Espernaza answered everything but she felt deep pain because she missed her house, friends and all of the other things in Mexico where she lived with the full of happiness. Next day was Isabel’s first school day, therefore, Esperanza had to take care of two babies. Isabel commended a lot of things for the babies and she did it correctly. But there was three plums which looked very delicious so she gave it to two babies and they liked it much. And they went to asleep with Esperanza. When Esperanza was in a sleep, the babies were feeling bad and throw out all the things. Esperanza was so surprised and kept washed the babies. Then she remembered about the rice water. When she was young, her servant gave her a rice water when she was sick. Therefore she gave them and they felt better. The babies liked Esperanza a lot. Next day, all of the sudden a dust storm occurred so everybody went in. Esperanza was worrying about Isabel and the other people include her mom who were staying at outside. Fortunately, they were fine. A week has passed and the grapes were all harvested. All things were going well but Esperanza’s mom looked seriously pale.
  • what will happen next?  ->I think Esparanza’s mother will have such a big illness which can not be cured. Therefore, everyone will be in the sad mood.
  • how did you feel about the parts you have just read? ->I felt very sorry for Esperanza for all of the unfortunate happenings and I hope everything will be better as soon as possible.
  • if there is anything to change, how would you change it?  -> I would make daddy to come back to Esparenza’s family as a surprise.
  • might want to ask the writer or the characters in the story?  ->I just want to ask her how would she feel like when she thought about her father and the past life in Mexico.
